John's approach is unique in the way he takes an interest in you as a whole person and how your dental care fits into your life and health care. He can read what's happening in your present life in the condition of your teeth and mouth and is very gentle and supportive in proposing ways that you can take better care of yourself through simple daily actions and mindfulness. He cares about his patients and I consider myself privileged to be one of them.

Thank you for visiting my website. I am now the happy new owner of what was previously Dr. Randal P. Swartwood's practice as of September 1, 2021.
I have over 25 years' experience practicing dentistry in Northern California, and recently moved to Syracuse with my wife, Jill.
I hope that that this site gives you a feel for our office and answers some questions you might have about my practice. Please feel free to give us a call with any questions or concerns you might have.
Whether you were a patient of Dr. Swartwood's, or are new to the practice, my staff and I look forward to serving you!
Our Mission
My staff and I are committed to creating a friendly, warm environment where patients receive quality, individualized dental care, supporting whole body health. We place a strong emphasis on preventative care and patient education, to make sure our patients are empowered to contribute to the lifelong health of their teeth and gums!

• Mercury free fillings
• High resolution digital radiographs (x-rays)
• Cosmetic porcelain crowns and veneers
• Replacements for missing teeth, such as dentures, bridges and implants
• Fabrication of athletic mouthguards
• Basic oral surgery
• Oral cancer screenings
• Hygiene, preventative care, and instruction
Uncompromised Safety
Infection control in our office is also very important to us. To protect our patients and ourselves, we strictly maintain sterilization and cross contamination processes using standards recommended by the American Dental Association (ADA), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Center for Disease Control (CDC).
Dental Insurance
We are in contract with several insurance companies, including Ameritas and Excellus. We process all forms of insurance and, as a courtesy, bill them for you. Our office manager, Gayle, will be happy to assist you regarding any questions you have about your dental insurance coverage.
Office Hours
Monday through Thursday, 8 am to 5 pm.
We are closed for lunch between 12 and 1 PM.
